Special Projects Manager
Provides volunteer engagement opportunities for UWA’s corporate partners and affinity groups. This manager also raises funds through the workplace campaign and serves as a “Relationship Champion” for United Way of Acadiana. This position fosters relationships with current and prospective donors, with special emphasis on supporters within the workforce.
The Special Projects Manager serves on a team that is focused on the Annual Workforce Campaign, volunteer engagement, special fundraising events management and cultivation of year-round relationships in order to meet annual fundraising goals. Must meet financial targets within assigned accounts.
A) Coordination of Short-Term and Long-Term Projects
Serve as “project management” lead for UWA donor engagement projects or special events such as Career Connections, Day of Action/Stuff the Bus/10.10.10/Adopt a Teacher, United Way Readers; lead volunteer recruitment/placement for cook offs and disaster response.
Develop a menu of volunteer opportunities to satisfy corporate requests for year-round engagement of their workforce.
Oversee an affinity group of volunteer coordinators and empower them with the information and tools needed to meet their business goals with regards to employee voluntarism with identified communities.
B) Building Relationships and Resources
Steward the relationship between United Way of Acadiana and its investors year-round with an emphasis on the workforce sector. Interface with executive level leadership from corporate, ecumenical, governmental and educational sectors as a method of promoting donor engagement programs and positioning United Way of Acadiana as having a year-round presence.
Actively seek new methods of engaging individuals and businesses through voluntarism who are not currently engaged in United Way of Acadiana activities.
Follow up on all inquiries for volunteer opportunities.
Provide for timely communication to engage and mobilize volunteers in UWA projects.
Provide staff management of campaign activities for assigned accounts in order to meet and exceed campaign goals as established by the UWA Board of Directors.
C) Leveraging Technology
Work with the Director of Administration to ensure that all data is entered, maintained and managed in the Enterprise Software.
Track and evaluate donor/volunteer engagement results for each priority issue program or project implemented.
Utilize Enterprise’s prospect management functions to record donor/volunteer interests relating to UW community impact activities.
Measure volunteer satisfaction after every project using digital tools.
D) Organizational Alignment and Adaptive Leadership
Operate within the parameters of your approved budget.
Integrate customer relations management practices into all projects and activities.
Advise the Vice-President of Resources on the internal alignment needed to achieve United Way of Acadiana community impact goals and priorities.
Under the direction of the Vice-President of Resources, collaborate with the Senior Vice- President of Impact Strategies to support the impact team’s task of measuring the performance outcomes of students participating in United Way Readers.
Engage in strategic planning with the Resource Team.
Exhibit high ethical standards and morals and embrace organizational values.
Execute special assignments as needed.
Attend national and regional staff meetings/training conferences, when requested.
Participate in all staff meetings; attend board or executive committee meetings when requested.
Serve as a Tier One (1) staff member for disaster, and is therefore the last to evacuate and the first to return after a disaster; evacuation should be in state if possible.
Adhere to all UWA policies and procedures.
Tier One (I) personnel
Bachelor’s Degree plus at least two years’ experience in volunteer management, fundraising, fund development or sales; experience with coordinating programs and special events; experience with office management to include work with personal computers, databases and word processing is required.
Proof and maintenance of a valid driver’s license.
Proof and maintenance of vehicle insurance.
Must pass a Louisiana State Police background check.
