Celebrating 125 years of United Way

United Way of Acadiana was founded in 1949, but we’re a part of movement that is celebrating 125 years of improving lives.

During this milestone, we celebrate those people and organizations – past, present and future – who continue to advance a movement to create opportunities for a better life for all.

In 1887 in Denver, Colorado, a diverse group of community leaders – a woman, a priest, two ministers and a rabbi – came together to improve the condition of their community. Today, their actions have grown into United Way, the world’s largest privately-supported nonprofit. We’re proud to be one of the nearly 1,800 United Ways in 41 countries and territories.

We’re continuing the work that began 125 years ago with our PACT United – our Plan of Action for Community Transformation. Through the PACT, we’re seeking to help more children graduate from high school, build financial stability in hard working families and help neighbors meet their own basic needs.

But it takes all of us to create significant change. When we all work together, there’s no limit to what can be done. We encourage you to become part the movement. Join us at www.unitedwayofacadiana.org to learn more about how you can help. You can give. You can advocate. And you can volunteer.

That’s what it means to LIVE UNITED.
