United Way of Acadiana Releases Funding Application for The PACT United
Nonprofit Organizations invited to respond to Request for Proposals

United Way of Acadiana announces the release of its 2008 Request for Proposals and invites nonprofit organizations to be part of the PACT (Plan of Action for Community Transformation).

As part of the long term PACT United, and a new approach to investing donations to make measurable impacts in our communities, United Way of Acadiana will accept proposals from nonprofit organizations in Acadia, Lafayette, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes that address the following issues:

1.    Education: Helping children and youth achieve their potential.
2.    Earnings: Helping families and individuals become financially stable.
3.    Essentials: Helping people meet their basic needs.

"We believe our RFP will enable United Way of Acadiana to more strategically collaborate with other nonprofit organizations to tackle issues outlined in our PACT," said Margaret Trahan, United Way of Acadiana President/CEO. "Together, united, we can do more for Acadiana than any one group or organization can on its own."

Organizations submitting a proposal must have an IRS 501(c)3 tax-exempt status, address one of the target specifications, and be able to demonstrate the ability to implement and evaluate program outcomes.  Collaboration between like-minded agencies that focus on achieving targeted outcomes will be encouraged.

To aid organizations interested in applying for 2009 program funding, United Way of Acadiana will host a series of grant workshops.  The workshops will provide instructional information and assistance with the application process.
